The Bridge
English synopsis
On August 14, 2018 at 11.36 AM the Morandi Bridge collapsed in Genoa.
The death toll was 43 dead, dozens of people were injured and 600 people living in the neighborhood were displaced.
It had been a catastrophe waiting to happen that revealed the poor management of the Italian highway network. Among the rubble, the Investigating authority began to look for evidence, and the key exhibits that could be the central causes of the disaster: concrete stumps and steel cables, which from the Genoa hangar were brought to the EMPA laboratories in Dübendorf, where they were subjected to a super expertise.
The point of view of the Swiss experts is intertwined with the testimonies of the survivors, of the relatives of the victims, and also with the memories of some rescuers and of people who had to be evacuated from their homes. Those are the ingredients of a investigative documentary in which the search for the truth runs alongside the dramatic stories of the protagonists of this disaster.
