The Bike Listening Tour
The Bike Listening Tour follows Andrew Mohama on his solo cycling tour across America as he investigates loneliness. Inspired by his passion for community, Mohama sets out to learn more about the Loneliness Epidemic in America, biking along less-traveled rural roads and, at one point, biking across “America’s Loneliest Highway.” During his tour, Mohama interviewed more than 100 people about their experiences of loneliness and community. The film takes place in Nebraska and follows him on his journey as he interviews people, bikes from town to town, experiences a terrible mechanical failure, and incredible hospitality. Mohama’s goal with his listening tour was to get to know people in rural communities in America and understand how people experience loneliness. The film encourages the viewer to explore the ideals of community and how loneliness may impact them.

Andrew's Bike Listening Tour originally was not going to have a film created about it. But after spending a day cycling with Andrew on his tour in Colorado, I was compelled by his journey and passion to get to know people in rural communities in America. I planned to spend a day with Andrew and tell a short "day in the life" style of story, but after experiencing what Andrew experienced every day of his listening tour, I realized this deserved a much larger production. From there, the film The Bike Listening Tour was born, and I hope it can inspire viewers to ask themselves about community and loneliness.
