What Will They Think of Next Film Festivalaustin, tx
Best Director, Best Short Film, Best Ensemble Cast
Jono Robertson is a Canadian director, screenwriter and musician based out of New York City. His feature debut โThe S. S. Swensonโ premiered at the Manhattan Film Festival in April 2019, and has since been distributed by Gravitas Ventures. Jono also edited and scored โThe Big Nobodyโ. His favorite flavor of ice cream is โdeep friedโ and his favorite film is Boogie Nights.
My motive in making โThe Big Nobodyโ was to make Montyโs search for a sense of belonging and purpose, as vulnerable and accessible as possible. My vision was to create a satirical world of Brooklyn hipster culture, in the vain of โZoolanderโ, while still fleshing out the relationships as much as we could and really treating this buddy-comedy script like a character study.
I found it to be very unique that Olga had initially written the lead part as male, and then decided to play it herself without making any rewrites. It was a bold and exciting choice and really makes one feel that we can all do whatever we want to.
This film is for anyone whoโs ever wanted to be a somebody, and felt like they are not living up to their full potential. Itโs a story that we can all identify with, and a story worth telling.
