Bahadir Karasu (born April 26, 1990, in Bandirma, Turkey) is a Turkish filmmaker.
He works in the film industry as a scriptwriter, videographer, post-production-production assistant, editor, and director. In 2009, he attempted to create a group that aims to assemble young independent film-makers for supporting guerrilla film-making with independent, Avant-Garde, and auteur style visions as well as going against producer ruffian-ism. In 2012, he officially found a production company named Pirana Film with his close friend.
In 2013 he made his first avant-garde, minimalistic short film Echo.
In 2015, he co-directed his Spanish fantasy short film titled Un Pueblo Donde Dios No Existe (A Village Where God Does Not Exist) with Italian director Fabrizio Rossetti. It was screened at the Barcelona Planet Film Festival in December 2015, and was submitted to the monthly online event Los Angeles CineFest where it was part of the selection in January 2016.
In 2017, he wrote and directed a short film titled "Nyctophilia" which was screened in many international festivals as an official selection and made through semi-final in Los Angeles Cinefest and finalist in Underground Film Festival in Dublin, Ireland. The film picked up three awards in three category Best Score, Best Editing, Best Cinematography in World Premiere Film Awards Ontario, Canada.
Since my childhood days I’ve been interested in cinema and somehow I found myself in it. I think it is simply because it’s the most attractive way of telling a story. I’ve worked on various short films, stories written by me.
. ” A natural component of filmmaking is to struggle to find money. It will be an uphill battle for my entire working life”
I said this quote because it simply describes every independent filmmaker’s problems those who want to bring a pure art.
