Director Statement

I made The Bee Box because I wanted to not only shed light on mental health and how it can affect a family unit, but to also shed light particularly on mens mental health. While I draw inspiration from my own personal experiences, along with drawing inspiration from Sylvia Plath and Vincent van Gogh, I really placed an importance on how mens mental health can often be unfortunately missed. I hope that with this piece, however you may interpret it that you understand the importance that needs to be placed on mental health. I did my best to approach this theme in a respectful and serious manner. While the use of a content warning before and after the film may seem extreme, I believe with sensitive topics like this there is no room for misstepping and it's actions like these that can ensure the audience, whoever they may be, is looked after.
