I have always been fascinated by the mix of tradition and modernity. eLSeed's art is a perfect combination of the ancient art of calligraphy coupled with his vision of using a public building as a manifesto.
When capturing his pieces it was imperative to make the best use of drone technology due to the monumental nature of his art.
I wanted to bring the viewer closer to his art and give it a human scale by showing up close and personal how elSeed creates each letter with a brush or a can of spray paint. Even though the artwork takes days, if not weeks to create, I chose to keep the entire piece short and move quickly from one artwork to another.
Finally since eLSeed creates his art in Dubai at the foot of the world's tallest tower, I added some landscape drone shots of the area in which he paints.
I feel there is a universal message in his art, one where tradition and modernity flow with each other effortlessly. Beyond the quotes he choses to represent in his own form of Arabic calligraphy, eLSeed brings a message of hope and peace and this is what I wanted the viewer to take in.
