Born June 26, 1999 in Mexico City, Rodrigo C. Vega is a young filmmaker that is currently studying cinema in Universidad Latinoamericana. He has experience directing short films. "La Arcana Aflicción" is his first proffesional-type short film, with that project, he received "Honorable Mention" in Student World Impact Film Festival. He is very compromised with making movies and living for it.
In "La Arcana Aflicción", I decided to condemn violence of all kind, that is what all of the story is about. None of the characters are all-good because they are humans and after all, we all have our own demons. Marco, the protagonist, is a weird looking man that hides a secret, a secret that the crowd will discover while the film advance. For highlight the mistery, I decided to have a noir-type thriller esthethic with inspiration in films like "Chinatown" or most of David Fincher's filmography. The music is inspired by dark jazz, this helps in two things: The esthethic and the rythm.
The story of Marco is a story of pain, violence and evilness, but something I wanted to make sure was to make his character into someone very human, so the crowd makes their own statement about Marco.
This last point talks about what I want about this project, and what I want is to make people think and, as I said before, make their own statement, because I believe that art is for that, for making people thing and to change the world.
