Director Statement

This is my debut short film. It was a great learning experience to work on this material with writer/actress Linda Ryan to tell this very personal and human story.

The Annamoe pleasure is based on a novel by Robert Hellenga called the 16 pleasures.

The 16 pleasures are paintings, and a student takes herself off to Italy to help restore them after extreme flooding.

This story is based on a husband and wife who have lost a child. The mother is an art historian and has volunteered to help restore the “Annamoe Pleasure” based in Dublin, this opportunity helps with her grief and her relationship.

It provides a place for her to accept the loss of the child and repair and rebuild her and her partners relationship which has be challenged through this experience.

We decided to present this story in black and white with very little dialog and music to underline the characters emotions and the overall melancholic nature of the material.

We'd be just thrilled to screen it for an audience. We hope you enjoy!
