Experiencing Interruptions?

The Amendment

In the near future, the government has launched an experimental "moralization" program — a technology that erases the memories of individuals convicted of serious crimes, offering them a chance at a new life. ALI, one of the "cleansed," is released from the Center under the supervision of a Watcher — an official curator — and moves into a sterile apartment controlled by a smart home system.
Unaware of his past, Ali tries to adapt to ordinary life, but soon notices he’s being watched. Someone begins leaving him photographs of a woman who triggers strange emotional reactions in him. His mysterious stalker turns out to be a teenage girl — MADINA — who knows more about Ali than he does himself.
Ali begins to recall fragments of his forgotten life — and with them, a terrible truth: he may have been involved in his wife’s death.
As Ali searches for the truth, he is forced to confront a moral dilemma: who was he, and who has he become? The program that promised redemption reveals itself to be a finely crafted mechanism of control and erasure.
The film explores the boundaries of memory, guilt, and human identity: Can one truly be redeemed if their former self is erased?

Director Statement

Dear Festival Organizers,
My film "Amendment" was born out of a growing sense of unease: we are already living in the future that dystopian fiction warned us about.
I was inspired, among others, by the series "Black Mirror", where each story is not just a dark fantasy, but a logical extension of the world we inhabit today. Amendment 2030 is no exception. It's not only a story about memory, guilt, and the possibility of becoming human again — it’s a question:
What will remain of us when digital systems take over the functions of morality and control?
I care deeply about where our society is heading. The rise of digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the automation of moral decisions are not just abstract threats — they are real mechanisms already impacting human rights.
This film is my personal attempt to reflect on the fragile boundary between technological progress and our humanity. I hope it sparks conversation, not just emotion.
With gratitude for the work you do and for providing a space where cinema can still speak about what truly matters,
Vyacheslav Mokin
