Bukky Wonda is a Calgary-based Nigerian-Canadian filmmaker. She is a recent alumni of New York Film Academy (NYFA) where she obtained a certificate in filmmaking to enhance her technical and directing skills. Bukky started off her career in the film space as a Producer in Nigeria’s Television & Film Industry Popularly known as Nollywood. She produced the short film “Bridges” that went on to premiere at the one of the most prestigious film festivals in Africa, Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF). She also made her directorial debut with the short film, “The End” in 2019 which was also selected at film festivals.
Bukky’s drive as a filmmaker isn’t just to be creative but to create equitable representation for Black talents in the process. Directing “ My African Family” series has been a major highlight of Bukky’s filmmaking journey.
