Bilal Ahmad Dar has been instrumental in removing various kinds of garbage like plastics and carcasses from the Asia’s largest Lake, Wular Lake in northern part of Kashmir.
Young Bilal Dar rows his small boat in the deep waters of Wular to collect the floating plastic, which has choked the life of water.
Young Bilal’s shot to fame when Hon’ble Prime Minister noticed his efforts, his endeavours to clean this largest Lake of Asia. He named him in famous radio broadcast, “Mann Ki Baat”.

Gul Reyaz – brief profile
Gul Reyaz is first Kashmiri Award winning Filmmaker and Actor. Gul Reyaz rose from humble origins by starting his career as a stage artist where he subsequently ended up directing certain award winning serials, Plays & Tele films for different channels of Doordarshan. He has directed more than 60 Television Serials, 26 documentaries, 3 Tele-films & 6 stage plays and received many honors & appreciations. He has directed a documentary film for Douglas University of Canada “Paradise in Haze”
He has won lot of acclaim and appreciation for his short film “Gul” which has been screened in most of states of the country and also in Spain, West Amazon. He was awarded best filmmaker of Kashmir in 2015, by Kashmir News Network. Besides, he has been recipient of 12 awards & 17 nominations for his famous short film ‘GUL’ . He was awarded ‘A’ top by National School of Drama for 45 days theatre workshop.
Gul Reyaz is also Member of Jury for Kashmir Got Talent 2015, by Pace Production & University of Kashmir, Member of selection committee for 8th, 9th, & 10th Jaipur international film festival 2016, 17 &18, Member of Jury for 2nd , 3rd & 4th international Film Festival of Prayag 2016, 17, 18-19

This film is about Bilal Dar. Who’s father died of Cancer & he was forced to give up his education to earn a living to support his mother & two sisters with no job option available for young Bilal, he was forced to become a rag picker. Bilal started his day early going into the vast expanse of Wular on his Canoe. He would pick waste including polythene, plastic trash & floating bottles from the Wular Lake.
