Director Statement

As a first time female director, I felt very empowered when I finally completed this short film. I'm currently writing the TV Series for The Admired, which is a one hour Serial Fantasy Drama. La La Land created nostalgia of what’s pure and wonderful in Hollywood, our hopes and dreams. I want to show both sides, good and bad perhaps creating a dialogue.
In 100 years things still haven’t changed that much. Using "time travel" each week, we'll contrast Hollywood 1940s and today, and how todays issues are rooted in the Old Hollywood system. Exploring desire for fame, fortune and glamour, sexual harassment, lack of women in high powered jobs, lack of diversity, dwindling roles and jobs for women over 30 and how these parallel universes collide and how they're connected and differ.
Starting out in NYC as an actress I was inspired by certain director's I had the good fortune to work with: Martin Scorsese, Mike Nichols, Nora Ephron and Woody Allen.
I hope to make a TV Series of THE ADMIRED. To me it’s a combination of a “Hollywood Downtown Abbey' meets "Quantum Leap”. I love the idea of going back in time and having your dream come true…but there are ramifications! But that’s what makes life so interesting. Freud said: Two things are important for happiness: Work and Love..with THE ADMIRED I have both and feel so grateful to have tapped into my passion. I hope you enjoy the film!
I would love the opportunity to deepen my knowledge and ability to write, create and develop a project for episodic TV. I'd love to create something to get a dialogue going that can help deal with todays issues. I am very grateful there are programs like this that I can apply to & be considered for. I appreciate your time and consideration! Thank you! Warmly, Jacqueline
