Ariel Villa and Christopher Olmos are artists residing in Mexico City. Both studied at the UAM (Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana) surrounded by an artistic, creative, experimental and avant-garde context. This enhanced and enriched the their passion for creating and expressing through their artistic work, which, for some time, both had carried out in their different projects. After becoming good friends, the idea of a team project became a reality and that is how The Other World was born. From his passion and obsession with cinema, painting, photography, music and video games. This project had the support of his closest friends and families, both in the realization and ideas.
This film marked the artistic and professional relationship between both authors.
This film is an approach to the fears that, as artists, we tend to suffer. The overwhelming amount of ideas, how overwhelming it can be to deal with them, dreams and thoughts that seem foreign, frustration, among other topics. The production of the film was marked by a weird energy, the settings and the time contributed to generating this nightmare and oniric atmosphere and it seems to us that this is the essence of The Other World: waking up in an unknown reality, a truth that is difficult for us to believe but which, however, we must go through.
From the concept to the edition, we set out to conceive the processes of a variety of techniques and scopes, to achieve this overwhelming aesthetic and the portrait of a silent but chaotic world. The project was planned as an odyssey to the psyche damaged by life itself and the realities, conscious and subconscious, that we live as human beings and that we must confront and realize that everything is connected through our dreams.
