Last Stop Elkhorn, Montana
About 20 years ago, John Bonan moved from Los Angeles, California to Elkhorn, Montana, a well know Ghost Town in the state near Boulder, Montana. In Elkhorn, he moved into his family cabin that his grandfather, a miner from Italy, built in 1892. John has stated that this is his LAST STOP in his life... unless he is swept off his feet by someone who wants to take him back to Malibu, California. The cabin remained unoccupied for nearly 50 years before being restored by the Bonan family in the 1970s. Today, the cabin remains very rustic with no running water, it is heated with wood stoves, has an old time outhouse, and is decorated with family memorabilia that has been gathered over the decades. This production focuses on John's life in a Ghost Town, his cabin, challenges he faces, and the tourists that come to see the Montana Ghost Town. John tells several stories and there is a historical gunfight near the Fraternity Hall. The film is made by Doug Chester of Distant Art Productions in Cornville, Arizona. Distantart555@gmail.com for production information.
John's life in Elkhorn, Montana was the Last Stop for John Bonan. He passed away on June 19, 2021 doing exactly what he wanted to do, being a modern Mountain Man. His passing occurred as he was making a sequel to his first movie, The Last Stop. Unfortunately it was not to be completed. This movie is a tribute to John Bonan.
