The Telling Our Stories film competition is for short films by rising women and gender non-conforming filmmakers of color who have completed their first film project, highlighting themes relevant to womanhood, community, and representation. These shorts will be evaluated by industry professionals, competing for one of six finalist spots that will stream on TheWrap and all its related channels and be featured at the Power Women Summit on December 7-9, 2021. Starz/Lionsgate will offer $10,000 prize to a winning film, to be chosen by an industry jury. The award will be presented during the 2021 Power Women Summit by notable figure chosen by Starz/Lionsgate.

Narrative and Documentary short films with running times of 10 minutes or less, made by women or gender non-conforming directors, with subject matter that womanhood, community, and/or representation of underrepresented voices in the mainstream.
Submission material for consideration will be the short documentary or narrative project, description of project, synopsis, and information on key creatives (directors/writers/producers). A second page with photos from the short film is acceptable but not mandatory.

All entries must have maximum running time of 10 minutes or less.

Submissions may have previously played film festivals.

Submissions must have been completed after Oct 15, 2020

Submissions are ineligible if they screened on US network or cable television, or distributed to theaters.

Notification of the finalists by Nov 25, 2021.
Notification to all submitters by November 29, 2021.

All selected finalists must upload final film by Dec 1, 2021

All foreign language films must be subtitled in English.

All filmmakers submitting short films or treatments must have the legal right and authority over that work.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to view "Boxed" and select it as a semi-finalist in the 2019 cycle! Though it didn't move to the finals, the programmer kindly let me know her team enjoyed the film and respected my work. I hope to submit another one in the future.
