Starz and WrapWomen are seeking short documentaries by female filmmakers telling female stories.

The Telling Our Stories film competition is for short documentaries highlighting themes relevant to womanhood, created by female and female-identifying filmmakers. These shorts, or treatments for works-in-progress, will be evaluated by industry professionals, competing for one of six finalist spots.

The six finalists' short films will receive distribution on Starz a Lionsgate company and premium cable and satellite television network, recognition at the 2019 Power Women Summit, and the chance to compete for the winning prize of $10,000.

Documentary short films with running times of 7 minutes or less, made by female and female-identifying directors, with subject matter that highlights women and themes relevant to womanhood.

Submission material for consideration can either be the short documentary, or in the case of works-in-progress, a one-page treatment: description of project, synopsis, and information on key creatives (directors/producers). A second page with photos from the short film is acceptable but not mandatory. Final edit for works-in-progress must have maximum running time of 7 minutes or less.

Submissions may have previously played film festivals as long as they premiered after January 2017.

Submissions are ineligible if they screened on US network or cable television, or distributed to theaters.

All selected finalists must upload final film by October 11, 2019.

All selected finalists may need to remove their films from video platforms (YouTube, Vimeo, etc) to be eligible for distribution on Starz, a Lionsgate company.

All foreign language films must be subtitled in English.

All filmmakers submitting short films or treatments must have the legal right and authority over that work.
