The Teatro Oficina Story (Teaser)

The brasilian Teatro Oficina and its ensemble has always been a motor for change in brasilian society and also abroad. The multicultural theatre, together with director Zé Celso has been and is working and fighting for human and civil rights since decades. But in today's Brasil under the far right proto fascist governement of Mr. Bolsonaro, how can such an institution carry on, how ill they deak with the change in politics and society.

The Teatro Oficina Uzyno Uzona and I first met in 2004, at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen. I supported the ensemble as actor, author and camera man. At the Volksbühne, in Berlin, I orchestrated a theatre play together with Zé Celso, the ensemble's director.

Director Biography - Daniel Burkholz

Daniel Burkholz is an award winning filmmaker and lawyer. He first worked as lawyer for environment protection organizations and later as leading officer in the fields of environment protection and education. After an intermezzo as divemaster in Thailand, Indonesia and Egypt, he studied the Nomad's culture of the Sinai, the Nomad's Culture of the Great Thar desert, and the Aborigine's culture in Queensland. In 2005, Daniel Burkholz founded Roadside Dokumentarfilm. The UN and the civil society in many countries uses ROADSIDE films for their work. More over, the films have been officially selected for more than 150 festivals, fests and film series around the world. In 2020, Daniel Burkholz founded the NOMADS of Documentary and the Women's World Biennial.

Der preisgekrönte Filmemacher und Rechtsassessor Daniel Burkholz war langjährig im Umweltschutz- und Bildungsbereich und auch als Rechtsanwalt tätig. Die Vereinten Nationen und die Zivilgesellschaft in vielen Ländern nutzen die ROADSIDE Filme für ihre Arbeit. Die Filme wurden bereits für mehr als 150 Festivals, Filmfeste und Filmreihen in aller Welt offiziell ausgewählt. 2020 hat Daniel Burkholz NOMADS of Documentary und Women's World Biennial gegründet.
