Taylor Washington is an award-winning director and cinematographer based in Brooklyn, New York. Hailing from Austin, TX, Taylor comes from a music video background where he has directed 50+ videos across the United States for artists like Marian Hill, Cautious Clay and Of Montreal.
His most recent short film Call Me Mommy premiered at SXSW ‘23 where it was nominated for a jury award. It later went on to win “Best Comedy” at Hollyshorts (Academy Award Qualifying), “Best Comedy Short” at Cannes Indie Shorts Awards and premiered online as a Vimeo Staff Pick. Taylor is slated to direct the feature version starring Zoë Chao, Lisa Loven Kongsli and Aisling Bea in Melbourne, Australia in 2025.
Taylor's appetite for travel has always directly influenced his work - currently he’s directing a feature documentary, Modern Tlingit Warriors, following Alaska Native Veterans and how they used their culture to heal through their shared trauma from war.
In the commercial world, Taylor has directed for clients ranging from Canon, Chase and Southwest Airlines to Netflix, Amazon and Apple TV. His ‘Where is Jimmy’ spot for the Irishman was selected for SHOOT’s New Director Showcase in 2020 and an Official Selection for the Shiny Awards in 2023. Taylor is a co-founder of Pan Up Productions, a full-service content production company based in New York.
He's also a pretty cool guy; you would probably be friends.
