Tate's Hell
Logline: Paralyzed by fear of a mystical beast known as the SkunkApe, Tate is the hog farming son of a notorious outlaw living in isolation in an unforgiving wilderness when a pair of unsuspecting grifters weasel their way into his life for better or worse.
Synopsis: Pork is everything to Tate, an anxiety-riddled simpleton living in isolation. Tate’s father was a notorious bandit who retreated to the unforgiving landscape for solace. Little did he know the land was said to be the realm of the mystical creature known as the “Skunk Ape.” A local Shaman serves as the intermediary keeping the beast at bay with a long-standing pact forged between them. After the death of Tate’s father, Tate is left to his own devices. When a "traveling salesman" saunters into Tate’s life, offering Tate something he’s never known, companionship. The story bridges together folklore while providing a moral reflection that exposes human self-perception, all while being steeped with themes from ancient fables and the supernatural.

Seth Ingram is adventurously creative who emphasizes eccentrically interesting characters. His approach to storytelling always favors the road less traveled in hopes of discovering something fresh. Over the years, Seth has dabbled in independent film and TV projects. In 2015 he assumed the role of Executive Director of the Rome International Film Festival in Rome, Georiga.
Seth continues to write distinct character-driven stories that operate on multiple platitudes. To do it any other way would be downright boring.
Yeah, it's long for short. The length is there to set the world and the tone. I'm unabashedly obsessed with Terry Gilliam films, H. G. Wells novels, Westerns, and Tom Wait's music. This might explain where this idea was born from. The film explores many themes while touching on many manifestations of mental and physical anxieties. It's also rooted in folklore and loosely inspired by historical events. Tate's Hell is a unique film made with love from a mostly volunteer crew.
