My first introduction to cinema and theatre related to my elementary school, when I had a brief role in a musical play. From that point on, I maintained being involved with movies and theatres as much possible as I can.
Having a small role in the Salesman movie (2016) by Asghar Farhadi was the push I needed to fully immerse myself in the world of cinema.
I started by making some experimental amateur short movies and doing photography which motivated me to take it more seriously day by day.
After taking part in a few plays as an actor and also director, I decided to take the role of a director/cinematographer.
After that, I started studying cinema at Pars Architecture and Art University. I have finished two short movie workshops led by Arian Vazirdaftari and Farnoosh Samadi. I was able to improve my writing/directing, cinematography/lighting skills in our own advertising studio that I set up with my friend. As a result of all of these prior experiences, I was been able to successfully direct Tara and supervise Overload as the cinematographer.
I came up with the story after hearing about an unexpected accident that happened at a party, which was about a person falling from a balcony and dying.
Additionally, the expression of our gathering and party atmosphere, environment, and also deep relationships among people, which are also illegal in our country, was another major motivator for developing this script.
As a final note, I want to mention that making such a short film with a low budget and mostly student actors that are also my friends have been so enjoyable and adventurous for me.
After all considerations and plenty of revising, I finished the script with my friend Pooyan Mehraban and started the pre-production process.
