Weekend
Following his father’s death, Hasan returns to Cyprus after many years. As he spends time in his childhood village with his grieving mother and childhood girlfriend, the inner struggle with his identity and the challenge of being in a traditionalist community resurfaces. The pressure to attend the funeral pushes Hasan to confront his past and to search for reconciliation, not only with his family and home but also with himself.

A British/Cypriot filmmaker currently living in London. Following getting his degrees in Journalism and Filmmaking, Talat has pursued his passion for cinema by writing and directing various short films which have been screened in film festivals in Europe. He has also had different roles in crews for documentaries, music and promo videos.
I am intrigued by existentialist narratives, populated with characters dealing with details of everyday life. Directors such as Alejandro Gonzalez (Babel, Biutiful) and Turkish directors Nuri Bilge Ceylan (Uzak-Distant, Once Upon A Time in Anatolia) and Semih Kaplanoglu ('Egg', 'Milk' and 'Honey)' have a natural talent to get a specific range of moods across to the viewer and they were an influence for me as I made 'Weekend'.
