Worked for several features in Sri Lanka, along with multiple production agencies focused on advertisement and music videos. Had a screenplay optioned in early 2020 and began studying at Central Film School in 2022.
As a British filmmaker hailing from the city of London, yet with roots deep in the island of Sri Lanka, I proudly present "Taking On Skin." This short film marks the culmination of an arduous eight-year journey, during which I faced both triumphs and setbacks. Each failure served as a powerful catalyst for growth, shaping me into who I am today.
Having dabbled in the world of feature films and music videos during my time in Sri Lanka, I returned to the UK 4 years ago with a renewed passion for storytelling. My ultimate goal with "Taking On Skin" is to revive British cinema's true essence, offering a platform to share diverse stories that entertain and captivate audiences.
I believe in the resurgence of independent cinema, the magic it once brought to the silver screen with films like "Trainspotting," "Snatch," "Lock Stock," and "Sexy Beast”. With my work, I aim to provoke strong reactions, transporting viewers into uncharted territories of emotion and imagination.
It is my sole belief that character comes first. Before story, before structure before even the message.
"Taking On Skin" is not just another film; it's an invitation to rediscover the allure of independent storytelling. Through captivating visuals and thought-provoking narratives, I aspire to hold the audience's attention, ensuring they remain engrossed throughout the film's duration.
My biggest achievement to date is the completion of this film, the crew comprised of around 90% students, most of whose first film is Taking on Skin.
This project is the result of relentless dedication to my craft, striving to perfect the art of storytelling through every scene. It's a celebration of British cinema's heritage and a bold exploration of new frontiers. I embrace the audacity to forge my path in the ever-evolving cinematic landscape.
In conclusion, "Taking On Skin" is an embodiment of my obsession for storytelling, a testimony to the resilience built from previous failures, and a call to breathe new life into British cinema. Through this endeavor, I seek to transport audiences, leaving them both entertained and inspired. I am excited to present this film to the world and share the magic of storytelling with a diverse audience.
