Director Statement

I shot and directed ‘Ghost Island’ because I have a deep passion for unexplored places and a deeper passion for creating a record of history that may otherwise be lost. I am also passionate about the country of Taiwan, which I call my home.
The style of shooting I use is ‘run and gun’ because I feel that gives the most natural feeling of ‘being there’. This compliments the more planned out and epic aerial photography.
Working with this crew is fun as they are also my close friends and we continue to strive to make more and more compelling pieces should budgets allow. We were incredibly fortunate that the weather and circumstances allowed us to fulfill this project and that the funding from GuanXi media was sufficient to cover us.
We wanted to take the viewer on the journey with us, as a friend, to somewhere they will never have a chance to go. We also hope that we educated them along the way.
This film has cemented my passion for what I do, and I hope to continue long into the future with this incredible team of like-minded explorers.
