Cate Chereches is a student from Romania. She studies ceramics in an art university, but she started experimenting with animation 4 years ago. She made several very short animations, but Tab ur et is her directorial debut.
I was on a walk and I saw in a pile on the ground some rusted pieces of metal. I couldn't stop thinking about them, so one day I took them home and I gave them eyes, hands and a mouth. I feel like I made it possible for them to talk.
In my animation, I wanted to portray our capitalist society in a distorted mirror where you can see the end result of a race for more than you need, more money, power, resources.
It isn't sustainable.
The creatures are meant to be imitating humans as they go from surviving to always wanting more.
