TONOTWIYAT (Female Forest)

The story of Enggros womans maintains tradition in the midst of the current of modernization. They make a living relying on natural products from the Female's Forest.

Female Forest is a mangrove forest that covers 8 hectares in Yotefa Bay Jayapura.

Called Female Forest its because only women can move there, this forest area is forbidden for men.

Here is the 'life mall' which provides food ingredients such as shells, fish, firewood and other necessities.

How is the story of Enggros's women caring for tradition? Will this forest last from generation to generation? This is the story of Enggros women guarding tradition.
