The Door - Short
Josh Riley can't sleep. He feels frustrated, so he decides to go downstairs while his parents are fast asleep. After devouring left over pizza, he retreats upstairs, but he hears three soft knocks at the door – he’s not the only one awake. When he reaches the front door, he looks through the peephole. A dark figure stands outside. Another three knocks come again, this time faster and louder.
Before Josh can do anything, he hears his dad call out to him from outside. Josh turns on the porch light and peers into the peephole. Baffled by how his dad ended up outside, Josh opens the door and steps out – a deadly mistake. It’s not his dad. It’s a rotten, evil monster hungry for Josh’s flesh. As soon as Josh runs inside, the monster takes a hold of Josh and drags him outside to meet his doom.
Meanwhile, Josh's parents, Peter and Jane, are still upstairs, but Peter wakes up from a nightmare about someone taking Josh away. Jane tries to reassure Peter that it was only a nightmare. As Peter sits in the dark bedroom, he sees a dark figure in the corner. When he switches on the light, there’s nobody there. Peter feels unsettled and decides to check in on Josh, but he's shocked when he sees his empty bed. He rushes downstairs and sees blood on the floor and on the door frame. Peter opens the door and rushes out, but Josh is nowhere to be seen. The same dark figure reappears. Peter’s horrified to discover blood and entrails smeared across the porch with a menacing message written in blood. The monster attacks Peter and drags him outside, just like Josh. Peter calls to Jane, but it’s too late.
Jane rushes downstairs, unable to find Josh or Peter, but all of a sudden she hears three soft knocks at the front door. Peter calls out to her to open the door. Jane opens the door and suffers the same fate as Josh and Peter.
Who this monster is and why it targeted the Riley's...nobody knows.

Semifinalist for our horror thriller pilot MONSTRA
Samantha and Allison Garcia are sisters, award winning screenwriters and authors for Best Horror Screenplay (feature and short), both born in the 80's, both left-handed, and love writing - especially if it's horror!
They are the creators of THE NIGHT OWL CHRONICLES horror books series (as they are self-proclaimed night owls!). The first book in the series is called THE DOOR which caught the attention of the public and media.
They also completed the feature screenplay of THE DOOR (and the short screenplay with an alternate ending!) and have just completed their second feature screenplay titled CINEMA 4.
They grew up watching The Twilight Zone, Star Wars and Amazing Stories. Their favorite movies and T.V shows include: Coraline, IT, Get Out, Us, The Grudge, Aliens, The Ring, Predator, Halloween, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare Before Christmas, The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead, The Mist, Stranger Things and Ghost Hunters.
When they're not writing they're reading and when they're not reading, they're writing!
THE DOOR has been adapted from our first published book which was released in 2017. It has been our pleasure to rewrite this story by making the tension and stakes higher than ever before. We hope to entertain and scare you.
We have retained full rights to adapt our published book, THE DOOR.
