Director Biography - Soni Mizrahi

Soni is a Mexican Film and theatre director.

He has a Masters Degree in Film and Media Production (NYFA, LA campus) and a Bachelor Degree in Architecture (UIA Mexico).

He is known for his work as a film director in several short films such as Rain (2013), Last Night (2014) and K (2015) among others. He also directed a few web series such as Blissville (2014) and This is Only Temporary (2015).

When Soni is not directing, he likes to work as a Cinematographer in short films, documentaries and Music videos. He has collaborated with Mathew Modine, Jeff Byrd and Neema Barnet among others.

Soni is currently working on his first feature film "Sombras Ajenas" in Mexico City.

Director Statement

Although "This is Only Temporary" is a work of fiction, many aspiring young actors can relate to the fact that breaking into the "biz" is not an easy task and they find themselves in extremely awkward and yet funny situations to "get notice" or to make a few bucks while pursuing their so called dreams.

"This is Only Temporary" shows the journey of Pippa, a British young actress who recently moved to L.A. trying to pursue her dreams and all the ridiculous things that she has to do to survive.

Like "Pippa", I’m sure that everyone who aspires for a job in the industry or any other job, no matter for what position, felt at some point vulnerable or in an awkward situation, asking themselves if its "really worth it?" or "would I make it?". That is what makes "TIOT" so funny and thrilling to watch, the expression of a reality and the struggle to "Make it".
