Submerge
A girl leaps into the sea and is submerged in a state of transcendence, heightened by an echoing ambient soundtrack. Is she escaping the confines of the urban environment, as signified by the steady still image of an imposing building?
Referring to Yves Klein's photomontage 'Leap Into The Void' (1960), the image of the leaping girl becomes an antidote against socially-enforced conventions. I wish to suggest a form of liberation from both the confines of the city as well as the laws of gravity itself. In a fluctuating underwater world, physical constraints are suspended and the relation between space and time is transmuted. Man's relation to nature and need for escape are central aspects within my exploration.

I am a multimedia artist and designer born in Athens and currently based in London.
I studied Fine Arts at the Athens School of Fine Arts and Applied Imagination in the Creative Industries at Central Saint Martins in London. I was also privileged to work alongside the artist Takis as an assistant at the Research Centre for the Arts and Sciences (KETE) which was a highly inspirational experience in my formation as an artist.
I consider my practice to be in a constant state of flux, incorporating new media, technology and design. I am interested in exploring the effects of place, light, sound and the projected image. Taking inspiration from urban landscapes and industrial scenes, I aim to suggest a synthesis between contemporary life and technological principles.
I feel compelled to research my interests and develop my ideas further in order to reveal questions regarding our fundamental human nature.
