Zachery Rhymer, 29, a brilliant lawyer who stutters only around women, falls in love with Josephine Hwang, 22, a prostitute forced to work when her mother suffers a stroke. Both were sexually abused in childhood. Zachery desperately wants to see her outside work, but Josephine adamantly refuses. A chance meeting with her and her wise but quirky mother, Rin, 51, who takes an immediate liking to him, changes their lives forever.

Writer Biography - John Doble

John Doble's first screenplay, THE AMEN SISTERHOOD, the story of five courageous women determined to chase drug dealers out of the courtyard of their housing project, won the Humanitas New Voices Award and reached Finalist in three other national competitions. His second, THE ROMMEL GAMBIT, about an American spy planting false information to convince Hitler that his best general, Erwin Rommel, is a traitor, won the Big Apple Film Festival Screenplay Contest, is on the Coverfly Red List and was in the top 6% with the Nicholl Fellowship. Both are in the top 1% on Coverfly and Stage 32. His third, BY ANY OTHER NAME, the story of a cripplingly shy lawyer who falls in love with a prostitute whose mother sees a match, has been named a Semi-Finalist in four competitions.

An award-winning playwright, his plays have been produced across the US and in the UK. He is also the author of numerous published short stories including a well-reviewed collection, Lefty and Other Stories.
