Taskeen Shaikh is a resident of Mumbai, India. Taskeen was inspired to become a director after her family friend and fellow director Remo D'souza, who urged her to follow her dreams. She is self motivated and incredibly passionate about her work as a Director. Aside from the filming aspect she explores art in all forms whether it be dancing, sports or even painting to express her emotions.
This project means a lot to me and to everyone who has struggled with their inner demons. I hope my message through the medium of this film is seen abundantly clear.
My friend Miraya inspired me to begin this project. Coming from a conservative background, especially being born a female, I was swatted away from opportunities that would have been easily handed to my male counterpart, thankfully my best friend urged me to take on a film project regardless of all the drawbacks I encountered.
This project is important to me because it is the first film project that I have ever worked on. It is a stepping stone for the greatness I may encounter in the future and because it is my first brainchild that I have worked on since it’s conception.
I am not the only person who could have told the story but I am the only person who could have told this story because I choose to. I choose to tell this story because it is something that can resonate with anyone who feels lonely or sad because after all the Lord is closest to the brokenhearted. And the brokenhearted should know that they are not alone.
Tim Burton’s movies inspired me to explore dark themes that may seem childlike at first glance. A 3AM thought brought further fuel to the idea when I was watching La La Land and how it shifts from reality to fantasy.
I hope the audience will marvel at the beauty of the shots and that the dialogues hit them with enough impact for them to carry the essence of what made the film possible. I hope that they empathize with the character enough to tug roots at their hard times and make them remember painful times and what got them through.
