Director Statement

For you, The Lamb is probably (hopefully) an awkward little satanic panic horror-comedy that's good for a few chuckles and ten minutes of light entertainment. For me, The Lamb is an existential meditation on my failed relationships. This project was a way for me to confront my emotional instability and work on stabilizing it. It's very personal in that I identify with both Charlie and Lucille. Like Charlie, I've been the naive sweetheart desperate for love and affection. Like Lucille, I've also been the unsympathetic lover focused on my desires and feelings over my partners. My goal was to portray both characters as sympathetic people whose flaws don't define them. I feel like it's important to value people despite their flaws, and that's why I hope the climax of the film allows people to feel empathy toward Lucille. She's toxic, sure, but Charlie didn't have to hang around. He chose to, and our choices have consequences.
