What is real and what is false? What should we believe and what should we doubt? How does the art world work? "Oswald. The Forger" is a documentary thriller directed by Kike Maillo ("Eva", "Toro", "A Perfect Enemy") that tells us the story of the biggest art forger in the art world; a charismatic, irreverent, and provocative artist from Barcelona who has escaped justice on multiple occasions. They say that some of his works can be seen in the most important art galleries in the world, going unnoticed before the eyes of the greatest verifying experts. Oswald Aulestia is persecuted by the FBI for being involved in an international plot between the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, and Japan. A life of art, crime, piracy, traveling, parties, excesses, and the occasional lie.

Director Biography - KIKE MAÍLLO

Kike Maíllo is a writer, director, producer, co-owner, and founder of one of Spain’s leading production companies, Sábado Peliculas.
His first feature film was “EVA”, a science fiction starring Daniel Brühl (produced and distributed by Paramount in Europe and Weinstein Company in the U.S.). The film premiered at the 68th Venice International Film Festival and Kike Maíllo received the Goya Award for Best New Director and also a Gaudí Award.
His next project was “TORO” starring Mario Casas Luis Tosar and José Sacristán. Kike also has an extensive career in the world of advertising, directing projects for brands such as AUDI, Freixenet, Banco Santander, Sanex, and Seat, among others. In 2017, he won the Entertainment Lions Grand Prix at Cannes for “Cuánto, más allá del dinero” short film for Banco Santander. He also directed “La Octava Dimension”, starring Alberto Ammann and Najwa Nimri, is a short film for Audi presented at the San Sebastian Film Festival in 2018.
His most recent projects include “A PERFECT ENEMY”, based on the best seller by Amelie Nothomb, starring Tomasz Kot (Cold War), Dominique Pignon (Amélie), and Marta Nieto (Mother). The film opened at number one in Filmin.
He has recently directed TV Shows such as “EL CONTINENTAL” and “ÉLITE” (Season 6), and the highly anticipated “THE GIRL IN THE MIRROR”, which will be released globally on Netflix
in 2022.
His films have premiered at internationally renowned festivals including the Venice Film Festival and the Sitges Film Festival. Outside his own directorial work, he has produced many projects, such as the breakout hit “HOLY CAMP!”.
He is currently developing his second English language feature film starring Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass, Carrie) with Endeavor Content (See, Killing Eve, Nine Perfect Strangers). The film
reimagines the famous Bonnie and Clyde story.
