The Fools Film Festival is an annual short film festival which happens around the 1st of April ( April Fools ) hence its title! The festival was started by a group of African filmmakers known as TBE Productions. The festival begun in 2018 with its first edition being in Eldoret, Kenya. The 2nd Edition, which was also in Eldoret, was fully sponsored by Canon Cameras Africa & included a film workshop held by the Canon Ambassador, who also graced the awarding & closing ceremonies of the 2019 edition.

As we are now in the 3rd edition of the festival, which is happening in Mombasa City in Kenya, submissions for short films of 6 mins maximum including credits are being accepted as from 10th February - 10th March 2020.

THE FFF GRAND AWARD
This year, the festival introduces the " FFF Grand Award ". This is an award given to the best short film portraying The Fools Film Festival's greatest strength, ie Foolishness, with a touch of Intellect. This special category will be awarded to the film that is comical in genre but also educational in how it undertakes the theme.

The award is accompanied by a special film trophy which will be a revolving trophy. For a filmmaker to permanently keep the trophy they have to win it 3 times in a row and have to bring it back in the case of a loss in winning the category in the next edition. This category will also include a generous CASH PRIZE.

THE FESTIVAL IS OPEN TO FILMS FROM ALL ACROSS THE WORLD.

The festival shall run from 1 - 4 April 2020 with screenings & workshops inclusive.

1. All short films submitted must be original work of the submitter.
2. All short films must be maximum of 6 mins including credits. A 30 - 60 sec. trailer is also required.
3. All short films that are in a language that is not English must include subtitles.
4. All short films must have been created after 1st January 2019.
5. All short films that are publicly available online prior to the Festival may be considered for exhibition during the Festival, but will be ineligible for Jury Awards. We prefer that shorts not be publicly available online.
6. All short films that have been previously submitted in past editions of the festival are ineligible for resubmitting into the festival.
7. All short films must be copyright free and by submitting into the festival this grants the organizers, TBE PRODUCTIONS, the ability to use upto 30sec. max of the content with the owner clearly accredited for their work.
8. FFF reserves the right in its sole discretion to reject or disqualify any ineligible entries, without a refund.
9. FFF applicants are solely responsible for obtaining all necessary rights and permissions for third-party materials included in their films, including but not limited to music, trademarks, logos, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights. FFF expressly disclaims all liability or responsibility for any violations of the foregoing.
10. In the event of a password change or link change after submitting, you must email the Festival at thefoolsfilmfestival@gmail.com immediately with that change so we may update your record. If the Festival is not notified of the change and the link is found to be inactive or the password to be incorrect, the submission may be deemed ineligible.
11. FFF screens films as digital files during the Festival and does NOT screen films on Blu-Ray, HD-CAM, or DCP. If you are unable or unwilling to provide us your film as a digital file for exhibition, DO NOT SUBMIT your film.
12. All FFF participants should ensure to have read the rules very clearly before submitting their films into the festival.
