THE COİN

Havva, the mother, seems disinterested in managing the household and tending to her children's needs. Meanwhile, Tahsin, her husband, is currently unemployed, displaying an indifferent attitude towards his responsibilities, and struggling with alcoholism. Havva's days are primarily occupied by watching television, which leaves her less engaged with her family. Among their children, Hasan stands as the eldest son at 23 years of age, yet he appears to spend most of his time idling at home. Zeynep, the youngest sibling, enjoys playing games outdoors until the evening hours. However, concerning behavior arises as Zeynep starts taking coins from Hasan's pocket without his knowledge. This occurrence becomes a recurring pattern. Eventually, Hasan catches Zeynep in the act and reacts aggressively, resulting in Zeynep dropping the pilfered coins. In the heat of the moment, Hasan retrieves the coins and departs from the scene. Later on, Zeynep discovers a lone coin on the ground and, perhaps fueled by a mix of curiosity and mischief, disrupts an anthill using the coin she found.

Director Statement

Do you think evil is genetic? Is evil inherent or is it learned? Based on these questions, I decided to create this movie.
This movie reveals how a simple event can actually have big effects. In the film, while positioning the audience with a fixed camera, I want the audience to observe the events almost like an outside eye. I will shoot the film by taking the atmosphere of the film "Crack" and "On the Shore" as an example.
I will prefer to use mostly gray tones in the film because I think that gray will fit the depressive and melancholic mood of the story. I think that the gray color will be a good representative of the silence and indifference of the family members in the story towards each other. One of the things I want most as a director is for the audience to understand that love and correct communication are important in the family structure and that unhappiness will bring unhappiness after watching the film.
