MEEN BODY VANDI * THE BLUE TRIKE

Raghavan, a passionate actor in a traditional Tamil street playgroup, dedicates his life to preserving a 2,000-year-old cultural epic performed in the small villages and towns of Tamil Nadu. Despite the struggles of the troupe—fighting for recognition and survival in a rapidly modernizing world—Raghavan finds solace in the timeless art of storytelling.
Amidst the chaos of his demanding life, Raghavan falls deeply in love with Radha, a vibrant college student from a vastly different social and economic background. Their romance blossoms, defying the rigid boundaries of caste, social status, and entrenched societal prejudices.
Their love is tested when the two decide to marry, facing relentless opposition from their families, communities, and the world around them. The couple’s journey becomes a battle for acceptance and dignity as they navigate a web of casteism, racism, and generational traditions that threaten to tear them apart.
Set against the rich tapestry of Tamil Nadu’s cultural heritage, Raghavan’s Journey is a poignant tale of love, resilience, and the enduring power of art. As the couple face insurmountable odds, the story builds to a dramatic climax: will they triumph over societal constraints, or will their love become a tragic casualty of an unforgiving world?

Director’s Statement
“The Blue Trike" "MEEN BODY VANDI" is a deeply personal story that reflects on the fragility of human connections and the beauty of resilience. At its core, this film is about journeys—physical, emotional, and symbolic. The trike, a seemingly ordinary object, becomes a vessel of memories, relationships, and transformation, intertwining the lives of its characters in unexpected ways.
As a filmmaker, I have always been drawn to stories that reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary. The Blue Trike explores themes of loss, redemption, and the pursuit of hope, set against the backdrop of remote rural areas, mountains, landscapes, houses and villages and its livelihood, simple people and their happiness and struggles. The narrative is intentionally layered, encouraging viewers to uncover their own interpretations and emotional truths.
I chose a visual style that is both intimate and raw, with Tamil folk instruments enriching the soundtrack to ground the story in authenticity and evoke nostalgia. Each frame has been crafted to immerse the audience in a world that is simultaneously specific and universal—reflecting the shared humanity that binds us.
This film is not just a story—it’s an invitation to pause, reflect, and cherish the fleeting moments that define our lives. My hope is that The Blue Trike resonates with audiences, leaving them with a renewed sense of connection and introspection.”
