THE BIRD WOMAN (FEMEIA PASARE)

Gheorghe Preda was born in 1970 in Moeciu, the Brasov County, Romania. His economical studies in Bucharest were followed by filmmaking studies in Bucharest and Paris (a degree, and a Ph.D. at the University of Drama and Film Bucharest, and a master in cinema and audiovisual at the Sorbonne III University). After graduating, he worked in television: first with ProTV, then with TVR and Antena 1. He was also Creative Director with MTV Romania (2002 - 2004). He is now professor at the National University of Arts Bucharest. He made a feature film, a long feature documentary film, 6 short films, 5 documentaries for television, as well as music videos and commercials. He received the Filmmakers Union Award twice, the APTR National Television Award twice, three times the Special Jury Award at the Dakino International Film Festival, the Grand Prize at the Art Movie Festival in Teplice Slovakia, and Prix Canal + at the Montpellier Mediteranean Film Festval.. His films was selected in film festivals around the world : Clermont- Ferrand, Vila do Conde, Valladolid, Montreal, Cambridge, Calgary, Sao Paolo, Luxor, Edmonton, Cannes, Minneapolis, Tel Aviv, Brest, Shanghai, Gyor, Portobello London FF, Brest, Montpellier, Teplice, Biarritz, Cairo.
