THE SEED

No matter the medium, Searaya Sinnette has always had one common theme throughout all of her diverse career - create to inspire others to pause, drink in the beauty of this Earth, and come back to that peaceful center point within our hearts. She often does this by building a bridge. Diving deep into complex systems or schools of thought and then illuminating a pathway toward collective understanding, interest and ultimately action. And poetically, this is also the path of her own personal journey as well.

With a dual degree in Ecosystems Science and Policy and Electronic Media, Searaya set out to produce science and nature programming to ignite compassion and connection to the natural world and hopefully course-correct the extinction path humanity has put itself on. She did so with great passion, logic and excellence. At 22, Searaya had already been featured in the Smithsonian Museum’s Wildlife Best exhibit, been named a finalist in two categories of BBC’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year, hosted for Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, and had stills printed in countless magazines, newspapers, galleries and science journals. And yet she kept hitting a wall - both with the external industries and within herself. At the core, there wasn’t a palpable depth and grounded peace. It wasn’t time yet. The path and humanity was getting ready to be ready.

By age 28, Searaya began walking through a transformational fire that would completely dismantle all that she had built or knew to be solid. Stripping away layer by layer until all that was left was Truth. Walking away from her home on the Big Island of Hawaii, her first marriage, her career in commercial, underwater and aerial production, and her identity (literally first, middle and last name). Searaya went deep within her cocoon for nearly 5 years - battling her way through depression, crippling anxiety, family lineage trauma, and a re-examination of every single belief that she held to be true. A major turning point came while giving birth to her and her wife Michelle’s daughter Sparrow. After eight days of labor, her spirit began to lift out of her body on the operating table. She found herself faced with the most foundational of all decisions. “Do I CHOOSE LIFE? Am I willing to walk all the way through this fire? Will I use this life and this body I’ve been given to CREATE?”

At 33, Searaya is now clear about her purpose and her path. In order to affect deep change, to course-correct, to give humanity a chance at remaining on this magnificent planet for generations to come, we must first heal any separation within ourselves. All of the judgement, self-criticism, guilt, shame, and fear that we weaponize in our personal inner world are the seeds of destruction and separation that have wreaked havoc on this earth. The first step truly is to unite within, to then unite with each other, to then come back into harmony with this Earth. And of all people, Searaya knows that you are only ready when you are ready.

So in August 2022, Searaya launched her new production company SEA-RAY-A Productions and channeled the narrative and edit for her first short film THE SEED in literally 24 hours. All unfolding through the spiral of creation in divine timing. Her life, her art, THE SEED, are her personal invitations to go within, find your Truth, and plant the future.
