SYNOPSIS OF THE DOCUMENTARY
The story of the documentary “TEARS OF LOST EYE” is based on a
true story, which occurred in the district of Jorhat, Assam, India. It is the story
of man who had to lose one his eyes(eyesight) due to the utter negligence of
doctors. The sufferer, a tailor by profession, as suggested by some well-wishers,
went to an eye-hospital run by a famous NGO for free cataract operation of one
of his eyes there. Unfortunately enough, the man had lost the sight of his left
eye forever, which is precious as well as indispensable for his tailoring
profession. The loss of his eyes meant the loss of his earning, the loss of his
happiness- his contentment. The man has his wife two college-going daughters
and an unmarried sister with him to look after. Presently, he is going to lose the
eyesight of the another eye. All there consequence make his life more and more
unbearable-miserable.
It was very unfortunate that no newsperson or any other news channel
had got this news. It also remained unknown to the media that the sufferer was
later turned down very cruelly by the said hospital authority when (finally)
informed of the lost eye and asked for some help. All these injustice have become possible only because of the poverty of
the family, their ignorance, their fear etc. and above all there was no one to
advise the man that everyone has got the human rights and right to justice.
Considering the far-reaching implications of the above mentioned true
story my humbleself choose it for depicting it in the form of a documentary, in
an art form. In this short documentary, goes to expose the living state of sufferer
through bird, trees and natural shoots etc. use as symbolic. The purpose of
“TEARS OF LOST EYE” is to make ignorant and poverty-ridden people aware
of such unfortunate occurrences enabling them to know the “Rights to
healthcare”. It is hoped that the organisations working for the welfare of the
poor, illiterate and ignorant people will also come forward to help such really
needy people. (Musics are collected from various sources)
