Narrative and documentary films, 5 minutes and longer, any genre.

Any film that has elements, themes, or subject about how cybersecurity or hacking subculture, or just about anything that you could find at DEF CON, impacts, or is relevant to culture, society, and/or how technology affects our lives.​

Anything about solving problems in unconventional ways by using, misusing, modifying the resources at hand in unusual ways. AKA improvise, adapt, and overcome.

Anything about the misuse, or unintended use, of technology.

Anything about how the misuse, or unintended use, of technology affects and impacts people and society.

The story fodder provided by the unintended use or misuse of technology is rich. Send an email if you have any questions about the suitability of your film for this festival.

Submission fee is waived for team members who competed in previous years TDF X-Hour Film Contest. Send an email for a waiver code to use when you submit.

TDF X-Hour Film Contest & Festival is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless TDF X-Hour Film Contest & Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
