Director Biography - Chiang Yao

Chiang Yao is a Taiwanese animation director and filmmaker whose animated short, ‘St(r)ay’, was selected by more than 50 festivals worldwide and earned several international awards. He explores various points of view of stories, combining the imaginary elements in animations to challenge existing perspectives using creative angles in 3D, 2D, and through filming techniques. He is the founder in Cyder Studio and presently works as a director in Moonshine VFX. Chiang graduated with an MFA in Computer Art from the School of Visual Arts in New York.

姚江是台灣的動畫導演與影像創作者，畢業於紐約視覺藝術學校電腦藝術研究所，曾以動畫短片《(迷)留》入選全世界超過50個影展並榮獲多個國際獎項。作品範圍涵蓋3D、2D與實拍，善於探索故事的多元觀點並結合動畫裡的幻想元素，以創新的角度翻轉大眾既有的認知。現為釀作映畫負責人、夢想動畫導演。

Director Statement

Beginning with the simple idea to explore a city through a shoe’s eyes. Sweet Horizon is a story of a backpacker’s shoe travels and meets the love of his life. From the shoe’s point of view to experience the culture and nature side of Taichung City, located in central Taiwan. Audiences could also fall in love with the main character and enjoy the city’s scenery along the way.

“美好鞋奏曲”帶領觀眾透過鞋子的眼睛，以既在地又獨特視角來發掘臺中旅遊的美好。最後以鞋子開口笑的雙關意象來表達臺中不僅有豐富的景點，也能讓旅客擁有心滿意足的笑容。
