Swavalambana

"Swavalambana" follows the story of Amala, a house wife, and her dilly-dallying husband, Joy. While out shopping on a sunny day, she decides to buy an ice cream, but the prices make her feel obligated to buy it. Her frustration is compounded by the fact that her husband, Joy,always responds to most questions with a non-committal "Choodham."
In an attempt to assert her independence, Amala applies for a job, but soon regrets her decision out of the fear of having to tell her husband. As she grapples with her conflicting emotions, she begins to personify her thoughts and have vivid characters from a You Tube channel she watches and her husband appear.Together, they come up with a plan to make a 'Double ka meetha', Joy's favourite sweet, in order to entice Joy.
However, their plan is disrupted when Joy's car breaks down on the day that the job offer letter arrives. When Joy discovers that Amala applied for a job without informing him, Infuriated at first, he then desperately tries to convince her to quit the idea, posing as a caring husband. But when all his efforts go to vain and Amala becomes assertive, he loses his control and raises his hand to hit her.
