Director Statement

I directed this short film called Survival as my master's graduation work. I chose this genre because I am trying to shoot some films with military themes, and I want to study the different formal differences between Hollywood action films and Chinese old-fashioned films from a theoretical and practical point of view. I was inspired to create this film by Thank You for Your Service, and I wanted the viewer to experience the hardships of life after a soldier with PTSD returns to normal society. This is not only a lofty tribute to the soldiers but also a hope that more people will pay attention to this collective. It's been a lot of fun working with the whole team, both the crew and the cast, we've had many collaborations, and everything went very smoothly. The experience working on this film will help me with future projects because it will give me more clarity on what needs to be strengthened and what direction to work towards.
