Director Statement

As an Asian American filmmaker, I have always strived to tell stories representative of the Asian American experience. This film is inspired by a true story of my grandma's hospitalization. Her fear of doctors and mistreatment is reflective of many Asian elders' experience . This story details not only the difficulties of navigating the grief that comes with a diagnosis but the helplessness and betrayal of the families that comes with bias in the healthcare system. I believe this specific story of racism, loss, and familial love needs to be told.
