Supplica a mia madre

The work is a request for an indirect confrontation with everyone's mother. The maternal conflict that arose from the non acceptance of one's sexual inclinations collides with the inability to untie oneself from the maternal figure.
"Supplica a mia madre" is the title of a poetry by Pier Paolo Pasolini, in which the poet expresses the conflictuality of the devotional relationship with his mother.
The action of breastfeeding is one of the most human and both
spiritual gesture. The male bodies on stage break the usual action of breastfeeding, causing a visual and conceptual short circuit: despite the attempt to replace her, the mother figure proves irreplaceable because this action is impossible if carried out by two men, but at the same time the two individuals affirm a new emotional and sentimental structure. This Performance is a request for separation, but also for forgiveness, it is a provocation, but also an act of love.
The empty space and the suspended movements delate any spatio-temporal reference. The contrast of light and shadow insinuates a sense of modesty, the difficulty in
making this gesture. The balance between eroticism and innocence generate constant ambiguity. There are also iconographic references to the Renaissance tradition
of the "Madonna del latte", in particular one of Bergognone, made around 1490, in which the glances of Mary and the Child are turned to the observer, as if to suggest their involvement; and that of Macrino d'Alba, active in the same period, in which the Virgin squeezes her breast with her hand.
