Super Smack - "Choose"
CHOOSE is the music video origin story of Filipino-American rapper Super Smack, who found his voice by combining his passion for videogames and hip-hop music. Through hand-drawn animations and intricate ensemble choreography, the video charts Super Smack's journey from being an unhappy software engineer to becoming a writer and performer in the world of geeked-out hip-hop music. Catherine Ricafort, Broadway veteran and Super Smack's sister, makes her directorial debut alongside fellow Asian-American Alan Tan as Director of Photography.

Catherine Ricafort is a triple-threat Broadway veteran, and has appeared in Allegiance alongside George Takei, SpongeBob Squarepants as "Karen the Computer", Miss Saigon, Honeymoon in Vegas, Mamma Mia!, and Cinderella. Catherine starred in the interactive musical Filipino webseries PRISON DANCER (CAAMFest 2012). She is proud to step into the director’s chair for the first time with “Choose”, the debut music video for Queens-based rapper (and her brother!), Super Smack.
“I’ve had the honor of performing in 8 Broadway shows, but I would have never dared to step into the director’s chair until my brother asked me to lead his video. It’s been such a unique project to work on because I can really relate to his origin story. We’ve both made the leap from engineer to entertainer, which not many others have done. Getting to tell this story through rap, dance, and animation is such an incredible opportunity. I’ve definitely been bitten by the directing/choreographing bug and plan to do it more in the future.”
