James Townsend Dick was born in Virginia, but raised most of his life in Weatherford, Texas. Growing up in the country, Townsend gained much experience from raising cows, sheep, goats, and chickens, which not only gave him an appreciation for life outdoors, but also helped him develop a positive work-ethic and a determined commitment to any task he was given. At age eight, he was given a camcorder and immediately fell in love with creating his own home movies and often gathered his friends together for ambitious summer-long film projects.
We live in the age of technological revolution. Every day there is a new invention, a new gadget, or a new trend. With the next phone always around the corner, and apps growing and dying everyday, the world is all about the new and exciting, and ever so quick to forget even the closest pieces of history.
While such innovation has shown widespread creativity and opened doors in every industry, it has also seemed to narrow our individual world-views to a more self-centered universe. Everything is personalized - yet nothing is personal. Everything is about bettering one's self and people are less interested in sparing the precious time that could change the life of a stranger.
This film was written with the generous stranger in mind.
We all have individuals in our lives - often people that we do not even know - who took the time to make an impact on our lives through their simple acts of kindness. It is often these simple actions that are the first to fade away, as older generations pass and the new are often too focused on their own time to think about giving to someone else.
Sunsprite hopes to give back.
This film seeks to shed light on the value of the past and the "old." We also hope to pay homage to those who have come before us - and all of the gifts they have passed on to us. Alder's character is much like the majority of society today. He is eager to forget the past and choose his own path to adulthood – but he does not realize how much the past still has to offer.
