Sunshine
Shiraz and Mital are at-risk girls. This is their first night out since Mital was accepted into the hostel. A wild night out on the beach until sunrise is at stake, and Mital's future stands in Shiraz's way. Throughout the film, Shiraz tries to prove to Mital, and perhaps to herself, that she can take care of them both, in the only way Shiraz knows how.

I grew up in Ashkelon and no matter where I went I was an outsider. I found a sense of belonging among other outsiders, freaks, punks and concerts, running away from home to see a concert and finding a family in my best friends. And it was precisely in these places, after I found a family by choice, that the combination of anger, sadness, hormones and confusion caused us to take out our anger on each other and hurt each other despite love. Focusing on the issue of a Family of Choice, Homelessness, Friendships, Counter Culture and Power Dynamics, I created Sunshine.
The issue of toxic power relations in poverty particularly interests me. I am interested in how poverty can push people to the edge in order to achieve what they want. Despite the subject matter, this is not a social film. For me it is personal, at its heart it is a film about friends whose decisions drive them apart and the circumstances of the empty night in front of the neon lights of the city reflect the distance between them.
