Director Biography - He Qiuyao, Hu Yinghai

We are the director of this film, He Qiuyao and Hu Yinghai, born in 1998 and 1997 respectively, we are now two sophomores of the Beijing Film Academy. The relationship between couples and working partners began when we were in high school. At that time, we were studying painting. Now we are studying cinematography. In the past few years, our visual experience and cognition have helped us to do better in applying image language to a film as a director. This is a practice work at school and our first complete short film.

Director Statement

The film is about a girl's pure and secret love of her teacher and her being rejected after confession.
Secret love is a very beautiful and pure thing to students. But when the person being loved is their teacher, it becomes more private and a thing of one’s own.
To me, what is more important is what her secret crush on her teacher brings to her heart, rather than the obssession itself. For an inexperienced girl, nerving herself to make a confession is as magnificent as humans setting the first step onto the Moon, and when she is rejected, how she wishes that everything could be washed away by flood. It seems childish and exaggerated, but it's a perfect manifestation of the adolescent girl's purity. That’s why I try to show what it feels for a girl to hold a secret crush in an unrealistic, musical and rhythmic way.
