Sueño con un día

Lu, a little girl who tells her dreams to her turtle, finds the possibility of finally feeling company when she meets Aini, an entity with head of a cloud. For this, the two will go through Lu's everyday life, with all kinds of people coming in and out of her house without a trace, such as a woman in a hat, a man plant and a young girl who can only sleep in her house.

Director Statement

I think about my childhood and what it meant to me. I think about how lonely I felt on many occasions. I think about all the things I would have liked to happen when I was at home all day.

I find in Lu many of the questions you ask yourself when you pay attention to those details we usually ignore. This short film captures a day in her life, but I think a lot can happen in such a short time. What happens to the plants when they are alone all day and we don't see them? What is behind the walls of every room in the house? Where do the dreams of those who can no longer dream go? What if I can't sleep in the one place I think is safe?

We live in a very strange world that we ignore because of the haste with which everything moves. Lu's small universe in her daily life is already strange in itself. People coming and going. Dreams, desires, memories and a talking turtle.

There is a poem by Wislawa Szymborska that says:
Compared to clouds
life seems to have its feet on the ground,
one would say that it is immutable and practically eternal.

I wonder how the clouds feel about us in the shortness of their lives. Maybe they long for something too. Maybe they get tired of seeing roofs all the time and wonder what's inside houses. Maybe they feel lonely. Aini is a character who is present, but at the same time, she is not. She goes unnoticed. She observes. I wonder if clouds also dream.

I would like to think that the memory of the dead is still alive in the dreams of others, that everything moves and will continue to move while we do not see it, that we can share moments of sleep in which we do nothing. I hope that the spectator can find in this project an invitation to look at everything in the world in a slightly different way.
