GENERAL
Submissions for the 1st Annual St. Lawrence International Film Festival Associated Colleges Student Filmmaker Competition open February 6, 2015 and close April 24, 2015.
There are NO ENTRY FEES for the Associated Colleges Student Filmmaker Competition.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for consideration:
1. Entrants must fully comply with these Entry Rules & Regulations, including all deadlines, entry material and other requirements.
2. Films must be NO LONGER than FIVE MINUTES in length.
2. Non-English language works must have English subtitles at the time submitted.
3. Entrants must be currently enrolled in good standing as of the competition deadline and at one of the four Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley: SUNY Canton, St. Lawrence University, SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson University.
4. Submitted films should be original creations wholly owned by the filmmaker or filmmakers. Filmmakers are responsible for securing clearances or legal permission for the use of any copyrighted musical, cinematic, or literary materials. Those clearances must be submitted in writing to the Festival should the film in question be selected as a winner or honorable mention.
5. Any genre or style of film is admissible: narrative, documentary, animation, experimental or something completely new and out of the box. Our only stipulation is that your film be no longer than 5 minutes total running time.
If subsequent to its initial consideration, the Festival determines that a submission no longer meets all of the criteria listed above, the submission will be designated ineligible.
NOTE: COMPETITION IS OPEN ONLY TO STUDENTS ENROLLED IN GOOD STANDING AT THE ASSOCIATED COLLEGES OF ST. LAWRENCE VALLEY (St. Lawrence University, Clarkson University, SUNY Canton, SUNY Potsdam) AS OF THE COMPETITION DEADLINE.
At the time of submission, filmmakers MUST send a scan/copy of their student ID indicating their current enrollment status and college along with their FilmFreeway tracking number to info@stlawrencefilm.com. Films without paired student ID's at the time of judging will be deemed ineligible.

The Student Filmmaker Competition only accepts online submissions.
Winners and Honorable Mentions from each school will be announced May 4, 2015 and posted to the St. Lawrence International Film Festival website at www.stlawrencefilm.com . The winners will be invited to compete as Official Selections of the 1st Annual St. Lawrence International Film Festival, October 23-25, 2015, where the winner will be awarded the Best Student Film award as determined by the Festival's jury of industry professionals.
GUIDELINES
Student filmmakers may submit one film of any genre, subject, style or language (non-English language films must include subtitles). Films should have a maximum running time of FIVE MINUTES, including credits. Films over five minutes in length will be designated ineligible. All entries, regardless of production cost or budget, are evaluated on the basis of originality of concept, technical production skill, and creativity in execution. Submitted films will be judged by faculty from each college who will pick one winning film and one honorable mention. Winning filmmakers will be awarded All-Access VIP passes to the 1st Annual St. Lawrence International Film Festival, October 23-25, 2015 and have their films screened during a special program at the Festival along with honorable mentions. The four winning films from each college will be judged by the Festival’s Official Jury, comprised of film industry professionals, who will award one film the Festival’s Best Student Film Award. That film and filmmaker will be listed among the festival competition's list of official winners and will be featured on the festival’s website and in all media related to the event.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Submission of an entry to the St. Lawrence International Film Festival Associated Colleges Student Filmmaker Competition constitutes acceptance of Festival Entry Terms and Conditions and grants St. Lawrence International Film Festival permission to show the work online using any platform at the Festival’s discretion, via social media and theatrically at the annual Festival. The winning films, the winners’ names and likenesses, the title of their entries, and the names of their schools will be posted on the St. Lawrence International Film Festival website and you grant the Festival the right to reproduce or utilize any and all portions of your entry, your likeness, name and school affiliation for promotional purposes without compensation. Filmmakers are responsible for securing clearances or legal permission for the use of any copyrighted musical, cinematic, or literary materials. Submission of an entry to St. Lawrence International Film Festival does not guarantee that a work will be shown at the Festival. St. Lawrence International Film Festival reserves the right to refuse to screen any film online or at the festival.
KEY DATES
• February 6, 2015 (12 am EST) – Submissions open for Official Student Competition
• April 24, 2015 (11:59 pm EST) – Submission deadline (no extensions) for Official Student Competition
• May 4, 2015 – Individual College Winners and Honorable Mentions announced via St. Lawrence International Film Festival website, press release and email to Entrants.
• October 23-25, 2015 – 1st Annual St. Lawrence International Film Festival to be held in Canton and Potsdam, NY, USA and Ontario, CAN.
ENTRY MATERIALS
All entries must be submitted online via the third party submission system of the Festival’s choosing. Filmmakers must complete the online registration form in full prior to submission.
MULTIPLE ENTRIES
Each entered film must be submitted separately.
SELECTED FILMS
Winning and honorable mention films will be notified by email via the information provided on the submitted entry form. Changes in contact information may be made by contacting info@stlawrencefilm.com . If your film is selected, the Festival will request confirmation of your Affiliated College enrollment status and DVD or Blu-Ray copies of your film.
AWARDS
College Jurors will select a Best Film and Honorable Mention Film from the entries received for each of the four Associated Colleges. Those films will receive Certificates recognizing the honor of being selected as Official Selections of the 1st Annual St. Lawrence International Film Festival.
Of the four Student Competition films selected to screen at the Festival, one winner will be chosen by the Festival’s Official Jury comprised of film industry professionals. That film will be awarded a special Student Filmmaker Award during the Festival’s Award Ceremony.
