Strokes Of Madness

“Strokes Of Madness” outlines an image of eight people who try to survive with a psychosis sensitivity every day. A life without seems almost impossible to imagine. Now, with sincere openness, they allow us insight into their everyday life and personal suffering.
It's a film about the boundary between creativity and psychological vulnerability. Each person creates their own piece of art with the help of a renowned Belgian artist. The pace, imagery and narrative technique moves to the rhythm of a psychosis. With great visual attention to beauty and art as a guideline, the documentary outlines a fair picture of life with a psychotic sensitivity disorder. The unconventional theme and the engagement of the artists makes this film extraordinary. Sometimes it’s pure madness, but sometimes it comes with a stroke of genius.

Director Biography - Ciska Snauwaert, Sarah D'haeyer, Lena Dewaegenaere, Lander Haverals

Ciska Snauwaert, Lena Dewaegenaere, Sarah D'Haeyer and Lander Haverals are four young TV & Documentary makers, blessed with a lot of talent, and for their age,  they already have a very rich experience. After training at their respective film schools Ritcs and Narafi in Brussels, they furthered their profession as directors in the daily magazines 'Man bijt hond’ (‘Man Bites Dog’) and 'Everybody famous', where the daily rhythm didn’t compromise their pursuit of subtle humour and quality.
In documentary series such as “De Rechtbank” (“Court”), “De Recherche” (“Detectives”), “De Noodcentrale” (“Emergency Call Centre”),”People of Tomorrow” and “Radio Gaga”, they showed that they can also set the bar high in the longer genre of docu-series.
In the wake of Haverals’ internationally acclaimed short film “Pure Madness”, the foursome are now setting new limits with “Strokes Of Madness”. Delicately, they sketch a moving portrait of a handful of psycho-sensitive people who, under the guidance of famous artists, tell their life stories on the basis of a self-made work of art. A docu-series as they should all be: subtle, artistic and catchy.
